Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his own means, entering the hidden lair, attacking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could assist the party enter locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
